xCAT 2.0 for Linux is now officially released!

xCAT is a scalable distributed
computing management and provisioning tool that provides a unified
interface for hardware control, discovery, and OS diskful/diskfree
deployment. xCAT has been deploying and managing large Linux systems
since 1999. Many IBM customers and others have enjoyed its powerful
customizable architecture long before other management solutions came
into existence. Now xCAT 2 is open source on the xCAT sourceforge web site,
so you can use it with confidence and participate in making it even
better.
- Read the xCAT
2 Feature & HW/OS List, Release Notes,
the xCAT
2 Linux Cookbook, and then Download xCAT
2
Note: xCAT 1.3 and 2 do not play well
together.
Please have a dedicated xCAT 2 management node.
- For more info, see: xCAT Wiki, xCAT
man pages, xCAT database
table
descriptions, and all
the xCAT 2 docs
- Have an iDataPlex cluster?
Read the simple xCAT
2 on iDataPlex howto.
- You can now dowload for free IBM's
RMC monitoring infrastructure to use with xCAT.
- Currently a CSM user?
See the new IBM red paper: xCAT 2
Guide for the CSM System Administrator.
- Looking for xCAT 1.3? As previously announced, xCAT
1.3 went end-of-life on 10/31/08. If it is working for you, you
can continue to use it. If you need new features, or support on
the mailing list, upgrade to xCAT 2.1.
